WHAT IS SPEED DATING?
Speed Dating gives you a unique opportunity to chat to around 25 friendly people of the opposite sex for 3 minutes each. It's friendly and fun and will DEFINITELY improve your chances of meeting the right partner AND because you'll socialise with men and women, it's the ideal way to make new friends too.
CAN YOU REASSURE ME? I'M NERVOUS!
Don't worry, there's NO possibility of rejection and NO stomach-churning blind dates and of course you won't have to spend the whole evening with just one person if they're not for you, because you'll be meeting a new "date" every 3 minutes! Everyone is friendly and light-hearted and we've had quite a lot of speed dating success stories.
WHAT SHALL I WEAR FOR SPEED DATING?
First impressions are the ones that last, so make a special effort. No denims, trainers, T shirts please. And we probably don't need to mention this but... make sure hair, fingernails and shoes are clean!
HOW DOES SPEED DATING WORK?
When you arrive, we'll give you a numbered badge with your first name on it, and a score card so you can tick those people you'd like to meet again. The bar is open, so get yourself a drink, and you won't be on your own because we'll introduce you to a few people of the same sex before the speed dating starts. (By the way, it doesn't matter if there is an uneven number of men and women because we have a system which ensures that you will meet and talk to everyone of the opposite sex.)
When the speed dating is about to start, we'll take you over to the table which corresponds with your badge number. You'll be sitting with a person of the opposite sex who shares the same badge number as you and they'll be your first speed date! Chat away to that person and if you'd like to see them again, simply tick the box for their badge number on your score card. Every 3 minutes we ring a bell and you'll meet your next speed date, and so it goes on until you've met everyone there of the opposite sex.
WHAT IF I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING TO SAY?
It's okay, we even give you a list of suggested talk topics and questions, but you probably won't need them - you'll find the 3 minutes passes very quickly.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
When the speed dating has finished, the bar will still be open so everyone can socialise again, and if there's someone in particular you'd like to talk to again, now's your chance! Before you leave, we'll collect your score card from you and the next day we'll write and let you know who your admirers are and how many "matches" you've got. Then it's over to you to follow up!
WHAT INFORMATION WILL YOU PASS ON TO PEOPLE I'VE TICKED ON MY SCORE CARD?
We will only give them your first name, your badge number and whatever contact information you have put on the top of your score card (your telephone/mobile number and/or email address). No other information about you is passed on.
HOW MUCH DOES SPEED DATING COST?
If you're already a Member, the cost is just £17 - a very small price to pay for a very BIG chance of romance! If you're a newcomer, we'll ask you to pay your £5 annual registration fee too.
SOUNDS GOOD - HOW DO I TAKE PART IN SPEED DATING?
Just turn up between 8pm and 8.30pm - you don't need to prebook. Do come along, we guarantee you an enjoyable and fun evening! |
